Iowa Central set for regionals on the links

RIVERSIDE - The Iowa Central men's golf team will be competing for regional glory and a spot in the upcoming NJCAA Div. II Championship beginning here on Saturday.

The Tritons and the rest of the ICCAC teams will compete in the Region XI Championship, playing 54 holes over two days at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. Players will golf 36 holes on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. with 18 more on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.

The Top-3 teams and next two best individuals not on the qualifying teams will advance to nationals, which take place May 18-21 in Plymouth, Indiana at The Golf Club at Swan Lake Resort.

Iowa Central enters as one of two Top-10 ranked teams with Kirkwood. The Eagles are fifth and the Tritons eighth with Des Moines Area, Hawkeye, North Iowa Area and Iowa Lakes all inside the Top-25.

After winning their own invitational, Iowa Central went on the road and closed out the regular season with wins on back-to-back days at the Viterbo Match Play and NIACC Spring Invitational.

Kelly Boleyn has already secured a spot at the women's national meet for Iowa Central, qualifying with a Top-15 finish at regionals.
