The Iowa Central rugby team has accepted an invitation to the first-ever Rhino Rugby Bowl.

The Tritons will meet Wheeling University on Saturday, December 11 in Houston. The bowl will be part of the CRC Bowl Series hosted by the Houston SaberCats at AVEVA Stadium. 

"It's a tremendous honor," Iowa Central head coach Brent Nelson said. "We are excited to have one more match this fall and to test our skills against a great team in Wheeling."

Iowa Central concluded its regular season this past weekend at Lindenwood. During the year, the Tritons have faced off against a number of highly-ranked teams including Lindenwood, Arkansas State, Davenport and Army, going 7-4 overall. 

Under Nelson's direction, the Tritons have claimed two national championships. 

Wheeling is currently 6-2-1 on the year and set to compete in the Great Lakes Regional Tournament this weekend. They have also played Davenport and Army.
