Head Coach Brent Nelson will enter his 7^th year at the helm of Triton Rugby in 2022. Once again, the Tritons will look to play some of the very best teams in the country as they navigate the newly formed Big Rivers conference schedule which includes: Adrian College, Thomas More University, Marian University, Wheeling University and Aquinas College. The Tritons will also play a full slate of non-league opponents to fill the schedule. Iowa Central is a proud member of National Collegiate Rugby.

Coach Nelson started playing rugby for the Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club in 2000. Although he was introduced to rugby later in life, Coach Nelson instantly fell in love with the sport and it became his passion. He has since worked tirelessly to advance the sport of rugby whether at the high school level, collegiate club level or now here at Iowa Central as the only community college varsity rugby program in the country. Nelson also assists with the boys Iowa HS 15s Selects team.

Brent Nelson is originally from Humboldt, IA and was a 4 sport athlete in high school. He continued his athletic career at Iowa Central playing basketball for legendary coach Dennis Pilcher and considers himself a Triton to the core. He spends his very little free time playing golf. Nelson is also active in the community and has his teams active as well. Coach Nelson is a 200 level USA Rugby Certified Coach with a concussion protocol endorsement and is honored to be the first ever head coach of Triton Rugby.
