Last year, the ICCAC produced nine teams with at least five wins on the season, including four with double digit win totals.

That included Iowa Central, who went 10-4-1 and placed in a tie for third in the league race with Indian Hills. 

With that kind of balance and strength, Triton head coach Pablo Rodriguez knows his team will be tested several times this fall on the pitch.

"We look to be a competitive team within, arguably, the most competitive region in the country," said Rodriguez, who begins his third season as head coach with an overall record of 23-7-1, a mark that includes 14 wins in 19 conference matches.

Iowa Central hit a fever pitch late a season ago, finishing the year with 10 wins in 13 matches. Many of those players, though, have moved on, leaving a large group of newcomers to assume the mantle. 

Jemali Zarnadze played in 11 games as a freshman and scored three goals, with both Phillipos Georgiou and Ahmed Abdalla seein action. Newcomers Jehovany Rivera, Danijel Bozic, Jaheem Hayles, Noah Webster, Karl Lundberg and others are counted on to keep the Tritons in contention for a spot in the Region XI Tournament.

Iowa Central was 51st in the nation in goals last year with 46. 

After scrimmages this month with Waldorf, Grand View and Drake, the Tritons open the year Thursday, August 22 at home vs. Metropolitan. They also host Lake Superior on Saturday, August 24.
