Tritons clipped at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN - Playing a second consecutive ranked opponent, the Iowa Central men's soccer team was unable to hold off Marshalltown, falling here Saturday 3-2.

The Tritons, who upset fifth-ranked Iowa Lakes earlier this week, held a 1-0 lead against the No. 13 Tigers at the half on a Christian Koffi goal.

Marshalltown, though, responded with three goals to take a 3-1 lead before Danijel Bozic found the back of the net for Iowa Central (2-3 overall, 2-3 in ICCAC).

"The boys battled hard," Iowa Central head coach Pablo Rodriguez said. "We're still playing with a depleted roster due to players in quarantine, but they continue to fight and get better."

Yushi Nagao, Rene Hernandez and Jhancarlo Palma accounted for the goals for the Tigers with Seiya Zen earning an assist.

The Tritons return to action on Wednesday when they host Iowa Western at Rogers Sports Complex.
