Four silvers for Tritons in the pool

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Iowa Central swim team continued their strong run at the NJCAA Championships, picking up four silver medals here on Thursday night.

Kyle McKenzie broke his own school record in the 400 individual medley, swimming 3:56.00 in the finals for second place. During the prelims, McKenzie broke the mark, which was set in 2013 by Goran Koprivnjak.

He also swam the second leg on the second place 200 freestyle relay with Johnathon Turner, Dylan Jones and Tjeerd Van Stein. They went 1:25.68.

On the women's side, both the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays placed second. Lily Wright, Emily Small, Saige Knight and Magali Mouton comprised the 200 free relay, which went 1:40.98, with Wright, Mouton, Shannon Murphy and Small swimming the 400 medley, which finished in 4:02.28.

The Iowa Central men's 400 medley relay of Van Stein, McKenzie, Turner and Ijspeert placed fourth in 3:24.56 with Turner also adding a fifth in the 100 butterfly (50.14).

Van Stein was sixth in the 200 free (1:42.18) and Ijspeert eighth in the 400 individual medley (4:14.00).

Haley Snawerdt was sixth in the 200 free (2:02.80), Wright placed sixth in the 100 butterfly (59.17), Lexi Mast was seventh in the 50 back (30.05), Murphy seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:00.04), Knight eighth in the 200 free (2:03.77) and Small eighth in the 50 free (30.48).
