Iowa Central athletes will be spread across the country this week in pursuit of NJCAA national championships.

The Triton swim teams compete Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Iowa Central men's and women's swim squads both placed in the Top-4 at nationals in 2022. The Triton men are currently second in the power rankings nationally to Indian River State College of Fort Pierce, Fla., the 48-time defending NJCAA champion. The women are the same, behind only IRSC.

Triton Maria Goncalves has the low mark in the women's 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Goncalves also owns the second-fastest time in the 50 freestyle, and is second in both the 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley.

Sam Brennan of Iowa Central has the country's best time in the men's 50 freestyle this season. Zuiko Arita is No. 1 in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Luis de Oliveira of Iowa Central is second in the 200 freestyle. Kareem Salama Salah has the second-quickest time in the 1650 freestyle.

Mohamed Elmasri has the second-fastest time in the country in the 100 individual medley, and is third in the 200 individual medley.
