Swimming Completes Sprint Pentathlon

Mens swim completed the ICCC Sprint Pentathlon Saturday December 9.

The Iowa Central Men's and Women's Swim Teams competed in a virtual sprint pentathlon with College of the Florida Keys on Saturday December 9. Both the Triton men's and women's squads dominated the meet, finishing first in events and overall team points.

Luis Oliveira led the Triton men, taking first in four of five men's events: 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley. Sophomore Kareem Salah took first in the men's 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 26.63 seconds., just in front of Oliveira, who finished second in 26.70 seconds.

Jenna Braun won three events for the women: 50-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle and and the 100-yard individual medley. Makenna Engels took first in the 50-yard butterfly and 50-year backstroke for the Triton women.

In the 50-yeard butterfly, Grace Farrington, Jenna Braun, Cami Wood and Morgan Jacobs rounded out the top-five for the women's team, finishing second through fifth place, respectively. Kervens Warnon, Canyon Jones, Adnan Kabuye and Kaleo Thies completed the top-five for the Triton men.

Tritons Braun, Farrington, Jacobs and Paulina Can Barea completed the top-five finishers in the women's 50-yard backstroke. Warnon, Kabuye, Jones and Noah Winkel rounded out the top-five for the men.

In the 50-yard breaststroke, Tritons Farrington, Wood, Can Barea and Engels completed the top-five finishers for the women's event. Rounding out second through fifth places in the men's 50-yeard breaststroke were Oliveira, Kabuye, Jack Colvin and Jones.

Engels, Can Barea Farrington and Jacobs were top-five finishers in the women's 50-yard freestyle, while Tritons Kabuye, Jones, Warnon and Dylan Miller completed the top-five for the men.

In the 100-yard individual medley, Farrington, Engels, Can Barea and Wood finished out the women's top-five finishers in the event and Kabuye, Jones, Theis and Salah finished in the men's top-5.

The Tritons have a break from competition, completing the fist half of the 2023-2024 season and will return to action on January 13 at the Norse Sprint Invitational.
