Triton Swimmers Succeed at Coyote Invitational

Triton Swimming saw several first places finishes at the Coyote Invite in Sioux Falls.

The Iowa Central Swim Team competed at the Coyote Invitational in Sioux Falls, SD February 2-3.

The Tritons saw several individual event champions at the meet. Luis Oliveira captured the men's titles in the 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle. Kervens Warnon took first place in the men's 100-yard backstroke.

The Men's 200-yard freestyle relay "A" squad of Adnan Kabuye, Canyon Jones, Kaleo Theis and Oliveira also took first place. The "B" team of Jack Colvin, Sam Bruce, Gael Conde and Warnon finished third.

Canyon Jones finished fourth in the men's 50-yard freestyle, ninth in the 100-yard individual medley and seventh in the 200-yard butterfly.

Luis Oliveira finished eighth in the men's 100-yard butterfly, tied for fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Kaleo Theis finished in third place in the men's 1650-yard freestyle, seventh in the 100-yard freestyle and ninth in the men's 200-yard freestyle for the Tritons.

Kareem Salah finished eighth in the men's 100-yard breaststroke and seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle.

Rafael Gallegos finished fifth in the men's 1650-yard freestyle and Drew Folkerts finished 10th.

Adnan Kabuye finished the men's 100-yard freestyle individual medley in sixth place.

Kerven Warnons took second in the men's 200-yard backstroke.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Gael Conde finished sixth and Triton Sam Bruce finished in eighth.

Finishing in third place was the men's 400-yard medley relay "A" team of Warnons, Kareem Salah, Jones and Oliveira. The "B" team of Kabuye, Colvin, Bruce and Rafael Gallagos finished in seventh place overall in the event. The men's 200-yard medley relay "A" team of Warnon, Salah, Oliveira, and Adnan finished fourth and the "B" team of Conde, Colvin, Bruce and Jones finished in 10th place.  

Recording top-10 finishes for the Triton Women were Jenna Braun, finishing 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke and Makenna Engels who finished ninth in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Tritons now rest up from competition as they prepare for NJCAA Nationals March 6-9 in Fort Pierce, FL.
