Men's Swimming Takes Bronze At Nationals

Men's Swim Team finished third in the nation in 2024.

The Iowa Central men's and women's swim teams competed at the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships March 6-9 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

The men's team brought home bronze, finishing in third place in the overall standings. The women's team finished in fifth place.

Luis De Oliveira was the lone individual champion and All-American for the Tritons, taking first in the men's 50 Freestyle. He also took second in the men's 100-yard freestyle.

The top finisher for the women's team was the 400-yard medley relay team of Makenna Engels, Jenna Braun, Grace Farrington and Morgan Jacobs, finishing second in the event.

Three Tritons placed in the men's 50-yard butterfly; with Luis De Oliveira in third, Canyon Jones in sixth and Adnan Kabuye in eighth place.

Theis finished in sixth place in the men's 1650-yard freestyle, sixth in the men's 1000-yard freestyle and seventh in the men's 500-yard freestyle.

Paulina Can Barea finished eighth in the women's 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Kervens Warnon finished in third place in the men's 200-yard backstroke, fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and seventh in the 50-yard backstroke.

Kareem Salah finished eighth in the men's 50-yard breaststroke.

In the women's 200-yard breaststroke, Jenna Braun finished in sixth place. Braun also finished sixth in the women's 100-yard breaststroke and took fourth in the women's 100-yard individual medley relay and fourth in the women's 50-yard breaststroke.

Kareem Salah finished eighth in the men's 500-yard freestyle. Canyon Jones took fifth in the men's 100-yard butterfly.

Grace Farrington finished eighth in the women' 100-yard butterfly, eighth in the 100-yard individual medley and seventh in the women's 200-yard butterfly.

Makenna Engels finished seventh in the women's 100-yard butterfly, sixth in the 200-yard butterfly and eighth in the women's 50-yard backstroke.

Sam Bruce took seventh place in the men's 200-yard butterfly and Adnan Kabuye took seventh place in the men's 100-yard individual medley relay.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the women's team of Morgan Jacobs, Cami Woods, Paulina Can Barea and Grace Farrington finished fourth. The men's team of Adnan Kabuye, Kaleo Theis, Kareem Salah and Canyon Jones finished in third place.

The men's 200-yard medley team of Warnon, Salah, Oliveira and Kabuye finished in third place.

The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Oliveira, Kabuye, Theis and Jones took second place. The quartet also took second in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay.

The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Can Barea, Farrington, Braun and Engels finished in third place and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Can Barea, Jacobs, Braun and Engels also took third.
