Iowa Central tops Luther, set to host Pratt

The Iowa Central men's tennis team has been busy through the spring as they work towards the upcoming national tournament.

Recently, the Tritons picked up a 6-3 victory over Luther, one of the top colleges in Iowa, by sweeping the six singles matches.

Luther scored all three points in doubles, but Iowa Central was able to secure singles wins from Andrew Kunaka, Zamani Moyo, Merlin Bolema, Nolan Laduree, Arthur Praud and Eduardo Valenca to claim the dual.

"Luther is always a powerhouse, so for us to recover from the tough losses in doubles and win the meet by claiming all six singles matches, that really showed a lot of fight and toughness," Iowa Central head coach Ev Cochrane said. "Andrew came back after losing the first set in singles and pulled out a big win in a tiebreaker. All of the matches were hotly contested and our guys showed what they are made of by winning those points."

The Tritons are set to host Pratt in a meeting of top junior colleges at the Dodger Courts on Monday at 11 a.m.

The Triton women return to action on Tuesday at Simpson.
