Briscoe Joins Track & Field Staff as Throwing Coach

Gil Briscoe will join the Triton Track and Field staff as throwing event coach for the 2023-2024 season.

He comes to Iowa Central after serving as the Head Track and Field Coach for the past year at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH.

Last season, Briscoe's team had six indoor regional champions and five outdoor regional champions for Cuyahoga. His team won the NJCAA Region 12 Indoor Championship and two of his athletes were named Academic All-Americans.

Briscoe has coached the throws events for the past 13 seasons at Cuyahoga accumulating 17 national qualifiers for the women and six NJCAA All-Americans. In 2017, Briscoe's team had highest grade point average in the nation among all NJCAA women's track and field programs. During his tenure in Ohio, his teams have consistently been ranked among the top-10 in the nation academically.

Coach Briscoe has coached his women's throwers to 12 total individual Region 12 Championships and six NJCAA National Qualifiers. His most notable thrower has been Rashida Harris, a three-time National Runner-Up and four-time NJCAA All-American.

Prior to his time at Cuyahoga, Briscoe spent five seasons coaching field events at two different high schools in the Cleveland area.

Briscoe is a native of Bedford, OH and will also serve as a housing coordinator on campus.
