Track & Field Competes at SDSU Indoor Classic

Track competed at SDSU Classic in Brookings

The Iowa Central Men's and Women's Track and Field teams traveled to Brookings, SD to participate in in the SDSU Indoor Classic February 9-10.

Housem Hrabi took second in the men's 3000-meter run. His time of 8:19.30 was also a national qualifying time and the No. 6 Triton all-time best. Hrabi also finished third in the men's 1000-meter run with a time of 2:26.26, the No. 2 Triton all-time best.

Also in the men's 1000-meter run, Jadon Boots finished fifth, Joseph Asahi Wright finished seventh and Jed Elmbarki finished ninth. Each qualified for nationals with their times of 2:29.04, 2:30.83 and 2:30.95 respectively. Boots' time was the Triton No. 10 all-time best.

Youssef Hamed finished second in the men's 200-meter dash with a national qualifying time of 21.50 seconds, a Triton No. 10 all-time best finish.

Bongumusa Nkosi finished eighth in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds.

The men's 4x400-meter relay "A" team of Zion Campbell, Bongumusa Nkosi, Seon Booker and Trevon Prince finished third, qualifying for nationals and recording a Triton No. 9 all-time best finish.  

The men's 4x800-meter relay team of Caleb Crystal, Ben Reyes, Seon Booker and Gavin Stalzer finished fourth

The distance medley relay team of Boots, Bogumusa, Trevon Prince and Hrabi finished second with a national qualifying time of 10:06.54.

For the Triton women, Tina Samson took fourth in the triple jump, qualifying for nationals with a jump of 11.32 meters.

Dayvione Briggs finished ninth in the women's 60-meter hurdles.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Nicole Schaefer, Samson, Abigail Frey and Briggs finished 10th and the women's 4x800 team of Schaefer, Landry McCoid, Raylene Williams and Joan Jepngetich finished in eighth place.

"This weekend was a great close out to our regular indoor season; it is exciting to see so many national qualifying marks so late in the season," said Triton Head Track and Field Coach Anne Cleary. "We are going into the post season on a high note. We talked about it as a team at the end of the meet Saturday night, our goal is to ride this high through the regional meet and national meet."
