Awet Yohannes cruised to a first place finish at the Mustang Gallop to help the Iowa Central men's cross country team win the overall title last week.

For his efforts, Yohannes was named the NJCAA Cross Country Athlete of the Week. 

He finished the race in 15:52.3, topping a field of almost 80 runners. 

Last year, Yohannes finished in the Top-35 in the nation at nationals for Iowa Central and was also an indoor national champion in the 3K. 

The Tritons run next on Friday, September 6 when they head to Iowa City for the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa.
