Former Tritons Compete At World Championships

The road to the recent IAAF World Championships started right here in Fort Dodge for former Iowa Central athletes Adva Cohen, Karamye Bartley, Stanley Kebenei, Reyare Thomas and Brian Williams. 

All five previously competed for the Tritons in either track and field, cross country or both. 

Kebenei advanced to the finals of the steeplechase after running a time of 8:19.02 in the prelims. In the finals, he was 10th in 8:11.15 running for the United States. 

Cohen, representing Israel, finished 10th in her heat of the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:42.92. 

Thomas helped Trinidad and Tobago reached the 4x100 relay finals, running the third leg in the prelims as the quartet set a season-best time of 42.75.

Williams used a throw of 60.48m to finish 13th in his qualification round of the discus. 

The 2019 IAAF World Championships took place from Doha in Qatar and the Khalifa International Stadium. The event is biennial and will take place in the U.S. from Eugene, Oregon Aug. 6-15, 2021 with 49 events planned for the 18th edition of the championships.
