Former Tritons Shine At NCAA Championships

Earlier this year, a handful of former Iowa Central runners competed at the NCAA Div. I and Div. II Cross Country Championships.

Running for Northwest Missouri State, ex-Tritons Karim Achengli and Jhordan Ccope earned All-America honors in helping the Bearcats place fifth overall.

Achengli was sixth in the individual race, clocking a time of 29:52, with Ccope placing ninth in 30:04.

Running for West Texas A&M in the same race, Ezekiel Kipchirchi was 12th overall, earning the highest finish in program history when he crossed in 30:07.

Kipchirchir also earned Lone Star Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year honors this past season and was the first West Texas A&M runner to be named the South Central Region Male Athlete of the Year.

Kipchirchir, Achengli and Ccope all earned all-region honors for their respective teams this year. Achengli is a senior while Kipchirchir and Ccope are both juniors.

Adva Cohen, a former national champion for Iowa Central, ran for New Mexico in the Div. I national championships. She was 55th overall in 20:59 as the Lobos placed fourth in the team race.
