WEST SALEM, Wis. - The Iowa Central cross country had a strong night here Friday at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational.
Freshman Aspel Kiprob won the men's race with teammate Kelvin Bungei second, helping the Tritons finish second overall.
Kiprob clocked a time of 24:16.45, less than two seconds ahead of Bungei, the defending NJCAA national champion. Zander Cobb was sixth and Yared Kidane finished 14th.
Wisconson-La Crosse won the team title with 37 points as Iowa Central finished with 75. Wisconsin-Eau Claire was third, Gustavus Adolphus fourth and Simpson fifth in the 23-team field.
Behind a fourth place showing by Chloe Garcia Grafing, the Triton women placed fifth overall. Wisconsin-La Crosse was first, Wisconsin-Eau Claire second, Central third and Gustavus Adolphus fourth.
Grafing's time was the 12th fastest 6km time in school history at 22:15.03.
Taylor McCreedy was 45th and Kate Miron 50th.
