Tritons back in action for spring season

WAUKEE - The Iowa Central sport shooting teams got back to the range for the start of their spring season here this past weekend. 

The Tritons competed in the Simpson College Invitational held at the New Pioneer Gun Club.

Iowa Central placed fifth overall with a team score of 1,326 with Iowa Western finishing first. Simpson was second, Hawkeye third and Grand View fourth in the nine-team standings. 

For the Tritons in skeet, Thayne Chapin and Chase Martin each had 93s with Drew Baxter and Keylan Dracon recording 92s and Ryan Branning a 90.

In sporting, Ethan Bazyn had a 51, Baxter a 48, Taya Myers a 47, Branning a 45 and Chapin a 44.

in super shooting, Bazyn and Andrew Troje each had 34s followed by a 32 from Martin and 30s by Nicholas Atcher and Chapin.

Brandon Nelson's 97 in trap led Iowa Central with Troje, Martin and Chapin each recording 94s. Tristan Hoy had a 92.

The Tritons completed the fall schedule a perfect 7-0 to win the ICCAC West Division title. They return to action on March 25-27 in San Antonio at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships.
