Tritons secure several top finishes at nationals

SAN ANTONIO - The Iowa Central sport shooting team finished with five Top-4 finishes at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships. 

Carson Feeney was the Class B men's Skeet champion with Sarah England doubling up by winning the Class C women's Sporting and Super Sporting titles. 

Sally Jo Geckler finished as the runner-up in the Class A women's Trap event.

As a team, Iowa Central was third with a 489 in American Trap and fourth in Skeet with a 478. 

The American Trap team consisted of Chase Martin, Andrew Troje, Tristan Hoy, Ethan Bazyn and Geckler. Martin and Troje had 99s with Hoy, Baszyn and Geckler recording 97s.

In Skeet, Martin, Drew Baxter, Carson Feeney, Thayne Chapin and Bazyn comprised the scores. Martin had a 98, Baxter a 97, Feeney a 95 and both Chapin and Bazyn 94s. 

Feeney was also 17th in Super Sporting as he bested 86 other competitors for his title. He added a 19th in Sporting Clays. 

Drake Jones was ninth in Sporting Clays, Bazyn added a seventh in Trap and Noah Sundene was 10th in Skeet. 

Geckler finished sixth in Sporting Clays, seventh in Skeet and 10th in Super Sporting to go along with her runner-up performance. England was also 10th in Skeet to add to her pair of top finishes. 

Sarah Sundene placed eighth in Super Sporting, ninth in Skeet and 11th in Sporting Clays, and Taya Myers was sixth in Super Sporting and seventh in Sporting Clays for the Tritons.

Iowa Central competes at the SCTP Skeet and Shooting Clays in Oskaloosa on April 10 and the ICCAC Championships in Ackley on April 17.
