Tritons open spring season at Lindenwood

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. - The Iowa Central sport shooting team opened their spring season here this past weekend at the Lindenwood Open.

Bryce Wade was crowned the overall trap champion with the Tritons placing fourth in trap. 

Wade had four perfect rounds of 25, giving him a total of 100. Roy Gerlach had a score of 96 with Wyatt Lindstrom, Braiden Hurd and Carson Feeney each adding 95s in trap for a 481

"I thought we had a solid weekend against some of the best teams in the country," said Terry Coleman, Iowa Central head coach. "We definitely will get better as the spring semester continues, but it was good to get back outside and shoot live competition."

In skeet, Drew Baxter posted a 96 with Aiken Crowley adding a 95. Chase Martin had a 94 and both Sam Gammon and Gerlach fired 91s. Thayne Chapin led the Tritons in sporting clays with a 90 followed by Kyle Beck (89), Hurd (88), Abram Driscoll (85) and Gammon (85). 

As a team, Iowa Central also finished seventh in sporting clays and eighth, giving them a seventh place finish overall. William Penn edged Hillsdale for first with Midland third. 

Iowa Central competes March 19-26 at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio.
