Tritons post several top finishes at ACUI Nationals

SAN ANTONIO - The Iowa Central sport shooting team claimed two first place finishes during the week-long ACUI Nationals.

The Tritons were first in team trap and team trap doubles while also placing third in skeet and fourth in HOA, super sporting, sporting and skeet doubles. All of those finishes came in Division 4 for the meet.

Scoring was changed this year, as the Top-3 teams from each division were pulled into one category, with divisional standings remaining.

Carson Feeney placed third out of almost 1,200 shooters in trap singles with a perfect score of 100. He had a 71 in the shoot-off to decide the order.

"We had a good week," Iowa Central head coach Terry Coleman said. "We just didn't have that one big day to lift us higher in the standings. Carson had an amazing event and it was awesome to see him finish third."

Iowa Central had a score of 489 out of 500 in trap and posted a 463 out of 500 in trap doubles. In skeet, the Tritons finished with 471 out of 500. HOA had a score of 2,639 out of 3,000; super sporting posted a 410 out of 500; sporting had a 364 out of 500; and skeet doubles had a 443 out of 500.

The team will head to Cedar Falls April 23-24 for the SCTP State Junior College Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays Championships.
