Top honors for Rosenboom
Mackenzie Rosenboom has been named both the ICCAC and NJCAA Player of the Week for her efforts on the softball diamond for Iowa Central.
 
Rosenboom, a freshman for the Tritons, went 8-for-13 with four homers, 11 RBI, two doubles and six runs scored as the the team posted a 3-1 overall record. 
 
"This means so much to me because as a freshman, you are trying to show everyone what you have," Rosenboom said. "Your only mission is to prove to coach and the team that you have what it takes to deserve a position. I am beyond happy that Coach (Rick) Sandquist has given me the opportunity to prove everything I have."
 
Iowa Central (9-4 overall) outscored its opponents 39-18 during games last week.
 
Rosenboom leads the NJCAA with nine homers and is third in RBI with 21. The former Central DeWitt standout is batting .485 in 12 games with 12 runs scored and a slugging percentage of 1.455. 
 
As a senior last year for the Sabers, Rosenboom hit 11 homers with 10 doubles and drove in 48 runs. 
 
"This season has been off to a great start for all of us as a team and it makes me excited to see what is to come in the future," Rosenboom said. "This team has the opportunity to be something special and with us starting off so great, it just prove to everyone that we have what it takes."
 
Rosenboom joins Payton Andersen as both league and national players of the week for Iowa Central this season.
 
The Tritons head to kansas this coming weekend to compete in the Cloud County Tournament.
