Tjebben takes over Triton softball program

Bo Tjebben will turn in his assistant clipboard for a head coaching one, as he was named the new head softball coach at Iowa Central.

Tjebben replaces Rick Sandquist, who announced his retirement recently.

"I'm truly honored and lucky to be the next head softball coach at Iowa Central," Tjebben said. "I have some really big shoes to fill. Coach Sandquist has taught me so much the last five years and I could not have had a better person/friend/mentor/coach to learn from."

For the past three seasons, Tjebben has served as an assistant under Sandquist while also holding the position of the assistant athletic director during that time.

Tjebben was an all-state baseball player for Fort Dodge Senior High before pitching for Iowa Central. He later attended Iowa State University and played for the Cyclones.

Alex Boyce, a former Triton pitcher, will move into Tjebben's role as lead assistant.
