DENISON, Tex. - The 18th-ranked Iowa Central softball team got their season started here Friday with a pair of games.

The Tritons fell to Weatherford, 8-4, and NCTC, 9-5.

Megan Poole was 2-for-3 in the opener with Abbie Thilges and Sophia Cave each belting home runs in the second game. Gracelyn Bluml also had a triple.

"We're battling some injuries and seeing live balls for the first time," ICCC head coach Bo Tjebben said. "We're not quite there yet, but it was good to get started and play for the first time.

"We've got to figure things out, but it was good to be outside and playing."
