Tritons split at No. 8 Johnson County

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The 17th-ranked Iowa Central softball team split with No. 8 Johnson County here Saturday.

The doubleheader was put together in just a matter of hours, as the Tritons were already planning to compete on Sunday in Kansas against the Ottawa JV.

Iowa Central (3-5 overall) hit three home runs in claiming an 8-3 victory in the opener. Mackenzie Rosenboom, Loghen Schnetzer and Laila Pelds all went deep in support of Kayla Wookey.

Wookey struck out seven inside the circle, keeping the Johnson County hitters off balance with her pitching.

In the nightcap, Johnson County rebounded to post a 6-2 victory. Rosenboom again went deep in the game.

Iowa Central takes on the Ottawa JV on Sunday at noon in a doubleheader.
