Iowa Central unable to get past DMACC

Bo Tjebben knows that there is still plenty of time left for his Iowa Central softball team.

That is why the first-year head coach is anxious to see his squad get back on the diamond following a tough weekend series with No. 6 Des Moines Area at Rogers Park.

After falling on Saturday, the Tritons dropped games by scores of 11-8 and 9-4 on Sunday.

"I just want our kids to not hang their heads after these games because we were right there with one of the top teams in our conference," Tjebben said. "We had a couple bad innings, a few too many mistakes and against a team like DMACC, they make you pay.

"But we have a lot of season left and I feel like we have a lot of good softball left to be played."

Down 11-3 in the first game, Iowa Central put together a five-run rally. Abby Wilson had three hits and Loghen Schnetzer drove in three with Abbie Thilges adding two RBI.

Wilson, Madysen Lange and MacKenzie Rosenboom all drove in a run.

In the fourth and final game of the series, Schnetzer connected on a pair of home runs, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Rosenboom also had an RBI.

"We showed a lot of grit and heart there battling back," Tjebben said. "Hopefully, we can take the positives from all four games and build off those while also correcting the mistakes we made."

The Tritons head to Mason City on Tuesday for a twinbill with North Iowa Area.
