Iowa Central ends weekend with a split

CRESTON - For the second consecutive day, the Iowa Central softball team scored a split with Southwestern.

After winning the first, 7-2, the Tritons fell in the second, 9-1.

Madison Huisman delivered a strong effort inside the circle to begin the day, striking out 10 with just two walks and two earned runs allowed over seven innings. She received plenty of support early as Iowa Central (30-20 overall, 24-12 in ICCAC) scored once in the second and twice more in the third to gain the early advantage.

Abby Wilson, Loghen Schnetzer, Paytton Crawford and Mady Lange each had a double with Lange driving in two runs. Wilson scored twice and Mikhaela Muir collected two hits.

Rachel Newell and Lange stole a base each.

Wilson, Lange, Schnetzer and Kenzie Rosenboom had the only hits in the setback for the Tritons with Megan Poole stealing a base.

Iowa Central returns to action on Wednesday when they head to Ottumwa to play Indian Hills.
