CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Central softball team and Ellsworth begin the Region XI-B Tournament here on Saturday, playing after Kirkwood and North Iowa Area square off.
The double-elimination tournament will take place through Monday if needed.
First-pitch between the Tritons and Panthers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
In the Region XI-A bracket, Des Moines Area awaits either Iowa Lakes or Northeast. The higher seeded champion between the two regions will host a district final while the lower seed travels for districts with the North Plains winners.
During the regular season, Iowa Central set a new single-season team record with 86 home runs. Loghen Schnetzer broke the single-season homer record, as the freshman has belted 26.
MacKenzie Rosenboom has 18 homers, Laila Pelds 11 and Carlie Thompson nine.
Schnetzer leads the team with 80 RBI, Rosenboom has driven in 59 with 20 doubles and Madysen Lange, Abbie Thilges and Rachel Newell all have 23 steals.
Inside the circle, Madison Huisman is 13-9 with a save and 157 strikeouts in 129 innings. Kayla Wookey has seven wins and 71 strikeouts while Mikhaela Muir has six wins, two saves and 73 strikeouts.
During the year, the Tritons and Ellsworth split four meetings. Iowa Central took the opener, 8-5, before the Panthers won game two (14-13) and three (7-3). The Tritons closed the series with a 22-7 victory in five innings.
Ellsworth (20-30) went 15-27 in the conference, winning its last three games. Chelsea Buck has 10 homers and 49 RBI with Kaysse Dale scoring 42 runs and stealing 21 bases. Delaney Vetter is 12-12 with a save and 155 strikeouts.
Winners on Saturday advance to play Sunday at noon while the losers play Saturday at 3 p.m. in an elimination game.
