After learning for a season under her dad, Bo Tjebben, Cassie Tjebben will return in the fall as the lead assistant for the Iowa Central softball program.
Tjebben, a former player herself, stepped into the role on an interim basis this past spring, helping the Tritons win 31 games and place third in the ICCAC.
"Getting the opportunity to work with Cassie last year was such a blessing," Bo Tjebben said. "It was also a tremendous experience for her to get her feet wet as a college coach. I'm excited to see how much she continues to grow and help lead are program as we move forward."
Iowa Central's pitching staff recorded 335 strikeouts last year under Tjebben, averaging just over six strikeouts per game. Mikhaela Muir is set to return after logging 86 innings with 75 strikeouts. She won six games and had two saves inside the circle.
"I'm super excited to get this opportunity coach with a program that I once played for," Cassie Tjebben said. "I'm excited to coach alongside my dad and follow in Coach (Rick) Sandquist's footsteps, and continue to help the next generation of Triton softball players."
Along with her two years spent as a Triton, Tjebben also was a standout at Fort Dodge Senior High. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.
Tjebben will officially begin August 1.
