Tritons claim two more over NIACC

The Iowa Central softball team continued to showcase their offense here Monday afternoon in a sweep of North Iowa Area at Rogers Park.

Scores were 19-4 and 17-9.

Despite the frigid temperatures, the Tritons (16-10 overall, 5-3 in ICCAC) remained hot at the plate. They scored 57 total runs in the four-game sweep of the Trojans.

"We did a good job of making contact and swinging with confidence," Iowa Central head coach Bo Tjebben said. "We've still got a lot of work to do, especially running the bases and the little things. But, we haven't had much time to practice outside, so it's expected to have some mental errors and miscues.

"I know we'll keep working hard and get everything corrected."

Mackenzie Crampton earned her second win in as many days inside the circle, striking out nine batters in the opener.

Amber McKinney, Sydney Vogel and Mady Lange hit back-to-back-to-back homers in the opener, with Loghen Schnetzer adding a longball. It was the first collegiate home runs for McKinney and Vogel.

Lange, Carlie Thompson, Sydney Ballard and McKinney each had three hits in the opener, with McKinney and Mikahela Muir scoring three runs. Ballard and Muir drove in three.

Taylor Lee picked up the win in the nightcap as Chloe Mickelson was 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Myra Megli had three RBI, as did Thompson and Schnetzer, with Schnetzer hitting her second homer of the day.

Iowa Central will put its five-game win streak on the line Friday at Sioux City when they face the Morningside JV in a doubleheader. The Tritons return home to host Dakota County on Sunday at 2 p.m.
