Tritons stretch win streak to nine

The Iowa Central softball team continued their winning ways here Sunday afternoon, sweeping Dakota County.

Scores were 18-2 and 13-5 at Rogers Park.

Riley Gilroy went a combined 6-for-6 with eight RBI and five runs scored in the doubleheader. The freshman hit three home runs in the nightcap, as Loghen Schnetzer and Carlie Thompson also went yard.

"Riley was just on fire," Iowa Central head coach Bo Tjebben said. "Having her back and close to 100 percent makes us such a dangerous team. She is an incredible hitter and athlete, and she was locked in (Sunday)."

Schnetzer scored four runs and drove in two on the day, while Thompson had four hits, five RBI and four runs scored.

Mackenzie Crampton struck out six with four hits allowed inside the circle to earn a win, while Taylor Lee had three strikeouts for another victory.

Olivia Harmon stole two bases, scored six times and drove in three with three hits. Mady Lange had three hits, four RBI and three runs scored with Sydney Ballard picking up five hits, two RBI and two runs.

The Tritons return to action on Wednesday at Marshalltown.
