Another road sweep for Iowa Central

IOWA FALLS - The Iowa Central softball team stretched their win streak to 13 here Saturday with a sweep of Ellsworth.

Scores were 7-3 and 9-4. 

A four-run sixth broke a 3-3 tie for the Tritons in the opener. Mackenzie Crampton worked around seven hits allowed and three walks, striking out eight for the win inside the circle.

Amber McKinney hit a home run and drove in three on two hits, while Sydney Ballard had a pair of RBI. Loghen Schnetzer worked three walks. Olivia Harmon, Riley Gilroy, Carlie Thompson, Schnetzer, Sophia Klinger, Ballard and McKinney each scored a run. 

Thompson, Klinger and Gilroy all stole a base for the Tritons (24-10 overall, 5-3 in ICCAC).

"It was good to see us overcome some adversity on the road," Iowa Central head coach Bo Tjebben said. "In the second game, we came out and took care of business. We continue to get better with each day and game." 

In the nightcap, Gilroy had four doubles and was 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Mady Lange stole three bases and Schnetzer again was walked three times. 

Thompson plated a pair of runs and Lange had two hits, scoring twice. Jori Hajek also scored two runs and Harmon three. 

These two teams meet again back here on Sunday for another doubleheader.
