Softball Wins Two in Kansas City

Triton Softball wins 4 in Florida

Kansas City, KS - The Iowa Central softball team took two games over Kansas City Kansas Community College here Sunday afternoon.

The Tritons (4-2 overall) led 1-0 over the Blue Devils after one inning of play, with Kansas City answering with one run in the second to even the score going into the third. The Tritons led 2-1 going into the fourth inning, before scoring five runs in the fifth to go up 7-1, then held the Blue Devils to just one run in the sixth to take the win 7-2.

In game one, the Tritons were led by Morgan Weeks' three RBI's. Alexis Hansen had two, with Kaylee Cary and Cailyn Hardy each adding one. Jayda Long got the win on the mound with a complete game seven strikeout performance. 

The Tritons led 7-3 after three innings of play in game two, but the hungry Blue Devils answered with six runs in the fourth to take the lead 9-7. Following a scoreless fifth inning, the Tritons scored three runs in the sixth and the Blue Devils one to even the score 10-10 going into the final inning. The Tritons scored one run in the seventh to secure the 11-10 win.  

Gabriella Taber and Kaylee Cary each drove in three runs for the Tritons in game two. Alexis Hansen and Breanna Nolte each had two RBIs, with Jayda Long adding one.

The Tritons play a double header Monday vs. Johnson County in Overland Park, KS before returning to face Kansas City for two more on Saturday February 24, and play Neosho and Fort Scott in Fort Scott, KS on February 25.
