Softball goes 3-1 on the Weekend

The Iowa Central softball team found themselves in familiar territory Saturday as they faced Kansas City Kansas Community College for the third time in less than a week.

The Tritons split this series 1-1 with the Blue Devils, winning game one 11-0 before falling 5-4 in game two.

Iowa Central got on the board early, scoring one run in the first inning. Three runs in the fourth put the Tritons up 4-0, followed by two in the fifth, and five in the sixth inning for the win.

Jayda Long got the victory on the mound for the Tritons, with two strikeouts while allowing just one hit in six innings.

Alexis Hansen led the Tritons at the plate with four RBIs and a homerun. Gabriella Taber, Kaylee Cary, Breanna Nolte, Aleena Sandy, Calli Schell and Long each with one.

In game two, the Tritons held a one run lead into the sixth inning, where a run by the Blue Devils evened the score, 4-4, and a lone run completed the Blue Devils victory.

Long led the Tritons with three RBIs and Kennedy Palmer added one RBI.

On Sunday, the Tritons faced the Panthers of Neosho Community College.

The Tritons took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, and allowed Neosho's only run in the second inning. A three-run third inning put the Tritons up 5-1, followed by two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to secure the win, 11-1.

Jaedyn Stahr got the victory on the mound, pitching a no hitter for the Tritons in five innings.

Breanna Nolte led the Triton with three RBIs and a home run, with Kennedy Palmer adding two RBIs and a home run.

The Tritons finished the weekend with a five-inning 10-1 win over Fort Scott.

Iowa Central put one on the board in the first inning and propelled their way to a 7-0 lead in the second, followed by one run in the third inning and two in the fourth.

Long had seven strikeouts on the mound. Long also led the Tritons at the plate with four RBIs and two home runs.

Callyn Curphy had two RBIs for the Tritons and Kennedy Palmer, Calli Schell, and Gabriella Taber each had one.

The Tritons have the week off from play to prepare for a series of 10 games over spring break in Titusville, Florida.
