Triton Softball Goes 9-1 in Florida

ICCC's Carly Ryan was a top performer for the Tritons on spring break  in Florida for 10 games

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Iowa Central softball team capped off a successful trip to Florida by winning two more games here Friday.

The Tritons topped Clark JV, 10-2, and College of DuPage 16-8, to finish 9-1 over the past week.

Jayda Long was 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple in the opener, driving in two runs while also scoring twice. Carly Ryan added two doubles and three RBI with a run scored.

Morgan Weeks, Kennedy Palmer and Aleena Sandy each had two hits with Palmer stealing two bases. Weeks and Palmer both drove in a run.

Katelyn Dennis picked up the win inside the circle with three strikeouts over three innings of work. Abby Winter and Cailyn Hardy both pitched a scoreless inning.

Reagan Enright, Alexis Hansen and Sydney Wilson each collected three hits vs. DuPage, as Iowa Central (16-6 overall) erased a 7-3 deficit with five runs in the fourth and six in the fifth.

Wilson drove in five with a double, triple and homer, while Enright had three runs and and two RBI. Hansen drove in four. Palmer added two more hits with a walk and a stolen base.

Winter struck out five to pick up the win and Hardy earned the save.

"We really put a strong trip together," ICCC head coach Bo Tjebben said. "The girls swung the bats well, we got great pitching and when we had some troubles, we figured out how to get out of it.

"I think the girls fell very confident as we head back home."

Iowa Central has plated at least 10 runs in 10 games this season. They have outscored the opposition 105-32 over the last 10 games.

The Tritons will return to the diamond next Saturday for a doubleheader at Neosho in Kansas. They are slated to make their Rogers Park debut on Wednesday, March 27 vs. Marshalltown.
