Three Wins for Triton Softball on Opening Weekend
Since falling in the 2024 Region 11-A Championship game last spring, Triton Softball has been patiently waiting for their 2025 campaign to get underway. The wait finally ended on Friday (2/14) as they kicked off their season in Branson, MO at the JUCO Jam.
The Tritons opened with a 10-3 win over North Idaho College and then picked up two more wins on Saturday (2/15) with victories over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa and Allen County Community College.
"It was a good opening weekend for us," said Triton Head Coach, Bo Tjebben. "The weather wasn't the best, but we survived the cold, windy, and rainy conditions and went 3-0. We still have a lot to work on, but I'm proud of how they played."
The Tritons jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opener vs. North Idaho behind a strong pitching performance from sophomore, Jayda Long, and went on to the 10-3 victory. Long pitched 4.2 innings and struck out six. Breanna Nolte and Reagan Enright both had home runs and each drove in three runs in the win.
The Triton bats stayed hot on Saturday in their 14-9 win over Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and 11-3 5-inning win over Allen County.
Down 6-3 after four innings against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa, the Tritons plated seven runs in the fifth and four in the sixth inning in the 14-9 win. Reagan Enright had two homeruns and drove in four. Eight Tritons had RBI in the victory. Cailyn Hardy picked up the win on the mound.
Carly Ryan hit two homeruns and drove in six in the Tritons' 5-inning victory over Allen County. Nolte had three hits and drove in two with Enright adding three RBI. Long picked up her second victory on the mound of the weekend, giving up just two hits with six more strikeouts.
"We hit the ball very well. Scoring 35 runs and six home runs in three games," said Tjebben. "Reagan was 4-5 with three home runs and Breanna was 8-10 with a home run. Those two had a really good weekend."
Up next for the Tritons is a weekend trip to Fort Scott, KS for the Ty Cullor Classic and matchups with Neosho, Fort Scott, and Allen County.
