This season marks Coach Tjebben’s 5^th year as Head Coach, 10^th year overall with Iowa Central Softball. Tjebben is a Fort Dodge Senior High graduate and former All-State and Hall of Fame Baseball player, who went on to play for Iowa Central and Iowa State University Baseball, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

Before landing at Iowa Central, Tjebben coached softball over a decade for Fort Dodge Girls Fastpitch travel squads and assisted the Fort Dodge Dodger Softball (5A) High school program. Tjebben also served on the Board for Fort Dodge Girls Fastpitch Association and is named in the Hall of Fame for both Fort Dodge Senior High (Baseball) and the Fort Dodge Softball Association (Softball).

In Tjebben’s first season as head coach, the Lady Tritons shattered the program season homerun record with (88). (11) Tritons were named to the All-Region XI team, 2 additionally made the NJCAA DIV II Midwest Region team and Loghen Schnetzer was named All-American by multiple outlets. Under Tjebben year 2, Tritons ended their season 38-18, chalking up another (11) players to the All-Region XI team, with Riley Gilroy landing additionally on the All-Region NJCAA DIV II Midwest Region team. Tritons reached the Regional Tournament Championship game, finishing runner up and (15) Tritons were named to the Academic All-Region list. In year 3, Tjebben surpassed his 100^th career victory as head coach, and landed another (9) players on the All-Region XI team, (14) to Academic All-Region. Tritons ended their past 2023/24 season 37-21, finishing runner-up in the 11-A Regional Championship Tournament, as well as top 5 in the Nation in runs scored and top 10 in hits, Homeruns, etc. (11) Tritons landed on the All-Region XI team, with 3 additional NFCA All Region selections, Kennedy Palmer was named as NFCA All-Region All-American. (18) players landed on both the spring and fall Academic All-Region list!

Coach Tjebben takes pride in the team culture of Triton Softball (The Triton Way), and the importance of carrying those values on and off the field, as well as in the classroom. In addition to head coach, Tjebben is an Athletic Coordinator for Iowa Central and resides in Fort Dodge with his wife Chrissy. Both Tjebben’s daughters, Cassie and Bre have earned honors playing softball for Iowa Central and are on the Triton Softball staff. Cassie serves as Full time Assistant/Pitching coach and Bre as a volunteer assistant.
