Tritons snap skid behind West's big day

KEOKUK - The Iowa Central women snapped out of their recent funk with a big road victory over Southeastern here Saturday, 80-68.

Isabell West led the way for the Tritons, following up her 20-20 game with 34 points and 11 rebounds. 

Jordan Engbrecht added 13 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals, Nevaeh Galloway had 12 points with four assists and Carley West chipped in 10 points, five assists and five rebounds for Iowa Central (5-7 overall, 5-7 in ICCAC).

For the sophomore West, it was her 17th career double-double. She finished 15-for-19 from the field.

"It felt really good to win, especially after our loss on Wednesday," West said. "We were very excited as a team in the locker room after the game. I've just been focused on doing whatever I can to contribute to the team.

"It also helps that I have a great group of girls that have my back and I have their back."

Iowa Central raced out to a nine-point lead after the first, but Southeastern crawled back in it by outscoring them 20-17 in the second quarter.

With the lead, the Tritons took command in the third, posting 23 points. They finished plus-10 in rebounds and had 54 points in the paint compared to just 18 by Southeastern.

Antuanae Garrett had 14 points for Southeastern with Mya Bills adding 13. 

Iowa Central returns to action on Wednesday when they host Ellsworth inside Hodges Fieldhouse at 5 p.m.
