Everything was clicking from the opening tip for the Iowa Central women here Wednesday night as they posted a convincing 93-54 victory over Ellsworth inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

The Tritons (6-7 overall, 6-7 in ICCAC) are in the midst of a critical stretch in the season, playing two straight at home before heading on the road for back-to-back games.

For Iowa Central first-year head coach Brian Ortmeier, it feels like his team is starting to get it.

"We talked about putting the press in and started using it to success against Southwestern," Ortmeier said. "It worked again, as we got off to a fast start and were able to build from there. It seemed to ignite the girls a bit in terms of energy, too, which helps because we were kind of starting slow there, especially on defense."

Isabell West, fresh off being named both NJCAA and ICCAC Player of the Week, scored 24 points with 13 rebounds for her 18th career double-double. The sophomore cracked the school's Top-30 list for all-time scorers, as she now has 643 in her career, placing her 29th. 

Sherynn Titus scored 16 points with six rebounds and three assists, Autumn Dykstra added 13 points and Nevaeh Galloway had nine points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

Iowa Central scored the first 10 points of the game and built a 31-10 lead after the first quarter. That advantage grew to as many as 32 by the end of the opening half as eight different players accounted for buckets.

Jacie Stephenson had seven points off the bench and Taylor McKinney recorded four points and five assists. 

"It was nice to get those girls in there and give them some time on the court," Ortmeier said. "It also helped to get some of our regulars extended breaks because they have been logging a lot of minutes here lately."

West had her double-double by the break with 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Tritons shot 49 percent from the field and 46 percent from the 3-point line. Dykstra hit four triples and had 13 points during that time.

With back-to-back wins now, Iowa Central welcomes in Southwestern on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip.
