Tritons hold off Northeast for fourth straight win

NORFOLK, Neb. - The Iowa Central women were able to do just enough down the stretch to hold off Northeast, picking up a 53-50 victory here Wednesday night.

Isabell West had another double-double, posting 18 points with 11 rebounds while Carley West added 12 points, seven boards, five steals and four assists for the Tritons (8-7 overall, 8-7 in ICCAC), who have won four in a row.

Autumn Dykstra chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, with Nevaeh Galloway contributing eight points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Iowa Central claimed an early 12-9 lead and pushed its advantage to 28-20 at the break before outscoring the Hawks in the third, 11-7. Northeast, though, battled back, making it a one possession game late before Jordan Engbrecht knocked down two key free throws and grabbed a loose ball.

Engbrecht had five points, three rebounds and three assists.

For the Hawks, Ashley Hassett scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and Taylor Peter had 10 points.

The Tritons return to action next Wednesday in Estherville vs. Iowa Lakes beginning at 5 p.m.
