Sabah Dickerson has an optimistic outlook going into the 2023-2024 season, her second as Triton Women's head basketball coach.

The Tritons, who finished last season at 14-15 and seventh in the ICCAC standings, went 11-4 on their home court.

Returning this season for the Tritons are sophomores Kaitlyn Tendal and Emily Theiss. Last season, Tendal averaged 12 points per game last year and Theiss averaged seven.

"Both Kaitlyn and Emily have really exemplified what it means to be a Triton," said Dickerson. "They are athletically sound, personally motivated and have a drive to succeed."

Dickerson has high expectations for sophomore transfer Savannah Johnson as well as freshmen Jordan Mayland, a point guard from Clear Lake; Tayler Reaves, a guard from Center Point and Alyssa Lux, a guard from Cascade.

The team will also look to the leadership of freshman Lainey Maehl, a former Fort Dodge Senior High standout who averaged 13 points per game.

"Lainey has the ability to play the perimeter and the outside and offers versatility on the offensive end as well," said Dickerson. "She will make some huge contributions for us."

With three scrimmages in the books, the team is ready to open regular season play on Thursday November 2 vs. Mount Mercy.

"Overall, this group has an IQ for the game," said Dickerson. "They have been competitive in drills and we look forward to seeing them come together as a team and grow as individuals and as Tritons."

Dickerson is assisted by second-year Assistant Coach Kelby Homeister.
