Women's Basketball Improves to 4-0

Iowa Central women are 4-0 to start season.

The Iowa Central Women's Basketball Team improved to 4-0 on the season following two wins at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Classic in Kansas City November 10-11.

On Friday, the Tritons The Tritons outscored Metropolitan 17-13 in the first quarter, 12-10 in the second quarter, 21-20 in the third abd pulled away for a 62-51 victory. 

Freshman Laney Pilcher led Iowa Central with 23 points. Pilcher was two for two from the three point line and 11 of 11 from the  free throw line.

Jordan Mayland had nine points for the Tritons. Alicia Halsted scored eight. Sophomore Emily Theiss had seven points for the Tritons and Lainey Maehl and Amaya Terrell each added four points. Kaitlyn Tendal scored three points and had six rebounds, five assists and five steals.

 

Iowa Central won game two of the weekend, 69-63 over host Kansas City Community College, led by Laney Pilcher's 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Emily Theiss scored 18 for the Tritons, with eight rebounds and four steals.

Alicia Hatlestad contributed 10 points for Iowa Central and went 5-6 in free throws. Amaya Terrell added eight points off the bench and was 2-2 shooting from the three. Mia Danielson scored seven for the Tritons while Jordan Mayland and Alyssa Lux each added two points.

The Tritons were outscored 15-17 in the first quarter but used strong second and third quarters to outscore Kansas City, 25-22 and 14-9 to take the lead and secure their victory.

Iowa Central will next play Central Community College of Columbus, Nebraska, on the road Tuesday November 14. The Tritons defeated the Radiers 80-65 in their previous meeting on November 6 in Hodges Fieldhouse.
