Triton Women Stop Mustangs 72-42

Laney Pilcher led Iowa Central with 11 points in a 72-42 victory over Mount Mercy

The Iowa Central Women's Basketball Team improved their record to a perfect 7-0 with a convincing 72-42 win over Mount Mercy JV on the Mustang's home court Tuesday evening.

The Tritons outscored the Mustangs 22-11 and 22-10 in the first half, and while the Mustangs gained momentum in the second half, the Tritons still pulled ahead for the victory.

Freshman Laney Pilcher was the leading scorer for the Tritons with 11 points and was five for six at the line. Mia Danielson added 10 points and five field goals off the bench. Sophomore Kaitlyn Tendal contributed nine points by way of three three-pointers. Freshman guard Olivia Miller also added nine points.

Lainey Maehl had eight points and three rebounds and Alicia Hatlestad added seven points for the Tritons.

The Tritons shot 58 percent from the line. They open Region 11 play on Saturday in a road game vs. Ellsworth in Iowa Falls.
