NORFOLK, Neb. — The Iowa Central women moved to 5-1 away from Hodges Fieldhouse here Wednesday night, besting Northeast, 70-63.

The Tritons (12-3 overall, 4-3 in ICCAC) have won three straight to begin the new year.

Laney Pilcher scored 25 points, Alicia Hatlestad added 18 and Lainey Maehl had 10 to pace the scoring. Emily Theiss recorded 11 rebounds with eight points and Kaitlyn Tendal grabbed nine boards.

Iowa Central erased an early Northeast lead, taking control of the contest with a 20-10 run in the third quarter.

"This win was crucial as far as the Region 11 standings go," ICCC head coach Sabah Dickerson said. "Our conference is so tough and any win you can add to your team is key for postseason tournament seeding.

"This game was all about roles. We had to make some adjustments at half time and the team responded well. We felt that everyone really bought in to what we coaches asked of them and executed at a high level."

For the Hawks, Allison Richards had 28 and Stevi Fallis 21.

The Tritons return home on Saturday to face fourth-ranked Kirkwood with a 1 p.m. tip.
