Since turning the calendar to 2024, Sabah Dickerson has seen a renewed approach from her Iowa Central women.

That continued here Saturday inside Hodges Fieldhouse as the Tritons extended their current win streak to five with a 70-55 victory over Iowa Lakes.

Former Fort Dodge Senior High standout Lainey Maehl led four players in double figures with 14 points to help Iowa Central (14-3 overall, 6-3 in ICCAC) erase a four-point halftime deficit.

Alicia Hatlestad and Emily Theiss both scored 12 with Kaitlyn Tendal adding 11. Theiss also had a team-high nine rebounds with Laney Pilcher adding nine points and five boards.

"We are proud of the resilience of our women," Dickerson said. "We didn't have a consistent first half, but they were receptive at the half. We tied the contest and established a nice lead to win this game."

Iowa Central used a 23-9 run in the third quarter to gain control of the contest as they once again showed exceptional skill at the free throw line. The Tritons were 13 of 15 from the charity stripe compared to a 9-for-19 effort by Iowa Lakes.

"Alicia and Lainey played a solid contest," Dickerson said. "They continued to do what they do well and that stuck out to us as coaches. Each player has a role and when we stay to our principles, we play the Triton way."

Next action for the Tritons will be Wednesday night when they host Marshalltown at 5:30 p.m.
