The Iowa Central women's basketball squad used a fast start and never looked back on Saturday, earning an 80-62 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College on Saturday inside Hodges Fieldhouse during the school's annual 'Jam the Gym' event.

"Our staff is really proud of how our team made in-game adjustments," ICCC head coach Sabah Dickerson said. "We anticipated seeing more zone from Northeast and our point guards — Jordan Mayland, Alicia Hatlestad and Amaya Terrell — led the offense well."

Four players reached double figures for the Tritons (17-6 overall, 9-6 in the ICCAC). Kaitlyn Tendal knocked down six shots from behind the arc and had 18 points, with Laney Pilcher also scoring 18. Emily Theiss (14 points) and Hatlestad (11) followed.

Tendal also recorded seven steals and six assists. Mayland dished out five assists, with Pilcher grabbing seven rebounds and chipping in three steals.

"Kaitlyn had a tremendous shooting night, and Laney did a fantastic job sparking us off the bench," Dickerson said. "We had a strong week here at home, and our turning our attention to Iowa Lakes."

Iowa Central took a 26-14 lead by the end of the first quarter, then pushed a 14-point halftime advantage to 21 by the end of the third period.

Allison Richards had a game-high 23 points for Northeast (10-14, 7-9).
