Clemente Leads Tritons at Great Western Dining Shootout
Down with some key injuries, the Triton Women dropped two at the Great Western Dining Shootout in Hodges Fieldhouse. Triton Head Coach, Sabah Dickerson, knew going in it was going to be a tough weekend. "We scheduled two strong teams to push us this weekend as we move closer to Region 11 play. North Platte and Highland (KS) are both strong contenders to win their respective regions or earn at-large bids in March. Our staff was hopeful that our team would rise to the challenge."
On Friday the Tritons fell to North Platte, 62-33. Trailing at half, 32-9, the Tritons couldn't close the gap in the second half. The Tritons played well defensively, forcing 23 turnovers and outrebounding the Knights, 34-33. Leading the way for the Tritons was Ashlin Jacobsen with nine points and Clatherine Clemente had five. Kiara Baptiste pulled down five rebounds to go with three steals.
Saturday saw the Tritons fall 81-32 in matchup with the Scotties from Highland, KS. The Tritons struggled from the field, shooting 13-of-43 and 0-6 from three in the loss. Catherine Clemente led the Tritons with six points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Ruby Stuckemeyer added six rebounds and 2 two steals off the bench.
Coach Dickerson stayed focused on the positives from the weekend, "We played 36 minutes of consistent defense against North Platte and we out-rebounded them. We shot 75% from the charity stripe in both contests, so there are positives to take away from both losses" Dickerson said. "Although, we were unable to achieve our goal this weekend, we will continue to adjust our focus because our schedule isn't slowing down at all."

The Tritons are back in home action vs. Grand View JV on Monday (11/25) as they welcome area schools to Hodges for "Education Day". Tip is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
