Tritons Fall to Iowa Lakes in 2OT Heartbreaker at Hodges
Another heartbreaker in Hodges on Wednesday (1/22) night as the Triton Women fell 70-61 to Iowa Lakes in double overtime.
Trailing 46-50 with 53 seconds left in regulation, Olivia Miller came up with a key block and then hit a 3PT shot to bring the Tritons within one before Lainey Maehl would knock down one of two free throws to tie the game at 50 with :13 second left. A missed jump shot from Iowa Lakes at the buzzer would end regulation.
The Tritons never led in the second overtime with a layup from Ashlin Jacobsen tying the score at 59 with :8 seconds left. Two missed free throws by Iowa Lakes sent the game to double overtime. The Lakers would pull away in the second overtime to secure the 70-61 victory.
Ashlin Jacobsen led the way for the Tritons with 20 points, three assists, and three steals. Lainey Maehl recorded her second double-double in as many games with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Olivia Miller returned from injury to add nine points and four rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench.
As a team, the Tritons shot 32.3% (21-65) from the field, 35% (7-20) from three, and won the rebounding battle 49-47.
