Tritons Close Season With Win on Sophomore Day
There have been a lot of special moments in Hodges Fieldhouse for Triton sophomores, Lainey Maehl, Olivia Miller, and Amaya Terrell. On Saturday (2/22) afternoon, they were hoping for one more. The three sophomores, along with student manager, Rebecca Kabbah were all honored prior to Saturday's tip-off with Marshalltown.
The Tritons fell behind quickly 5-0, before Ashlin Jacobsen gave them a 6-5 lead with back-to-back 3-pointers. The Tritons would never trail again and lead by as many as 19 points in the 70-54 victory.
Double-doubles from Lainey Maehl and Kiara Baptiste led the way for the Tritons. Baptiste came off the bench and scored 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and three assists. Maehl added 14 points and 14 rebounds in her final game as a Triton. Ashlin Jacobsen scored 12 points and Catherine Clemente pulled down 8 rebounds to go with 7 points.
As a team, the Tritons shot 24 of 64 (37.5%) from the field, 11 of 30 from 3-PT (36.7%), 11 of 13 (84.6%) from the free throw line and outrebounded the Tigers, 48-34.
