National Runner-Up Finish for Triton Bowling at NJCAA Nationals
Led by Triton Sophomore and NJCAA All-American, Libby Leach, the Triton Women's Bowling team placed second at the 2025 NJCAA National Bowling Championships this past weekend at AMF Lanes in Buffalo, NY.
"Each of the six girls contributed in different ways to make their dream a reality," said Triton Head Coach, Gregg Haden. "New faces, academics, personalities, practices – they all take a toll. They found a way to perform their best when it was needed most."
The NJCAA Championship consists of three doubles games, three singles games, six team games and nine baker games over the three-day event. Finishing with a score of 12,427, the Tritons were National Runner-Up behind Rock Valley's 12,780. Jackson finished in third with 12,320.
Leach finished 2nd in the singles event, missing the top spot by just 14 pins, and in 6th place overall to be named an NJCAA All-American. Jade Wilcox finished 12th for the Tritons, along with Madison Ninnemann in 16th, Alexa Klaasen in 23rd, Emma Phelps in 41st, and Jordyn Atwood in 84th.
"When Libby first arrived on campus, I remember telling her she had what it takes to become an All-American at Iowa Central. Those talks became a reality this past weekend," said Haden. "Libby has been a great student-athlete these past two years. She buys into our program and the desire to succeed paid off. She is a great teammate and always wants what is best for our team."
Leach will be returning to Iowa Central for her third year of academics and helping as a volunteer student-coach during the 2025-2026 season.
The Tritons' runner-up finish is their 11th top-5 finish in program history.
